Spring has finally arrived in the mountains, which means one thing for us. Strap on a backpack, grab some trail mix, lace up our hiking shoes, and hit the trails! A few weekends ago on a cloudless, sunny Sunday, we decided to introduce the newest Taylor to our favorite outdoor activity; hiking! The Loop, which we have hiked many, many times before was our first choice a. // because it’s only two miles and b. // because it is within walking distance from our house (in case we have a massive diaper blowout or fussy baby and need to get back pronto). We set out in the warmth of the afternoon, with baby Opal in the front carrier, and made our way through the forest and onto the trail.
This is obviously not a hiking photo. I just wanted to give The Mr. props for breakfast that morning. He can sure rock out an omelette.
The traditional family selfie before we go.

My absolute favorite tree on this trail! I love it in all seasons. (You can see a foggy winter version on this post.)
Her heavy eyes made it about half a mile.
We packed our lunch for a trail picnic and found the perfect spot to plop on the ground in the sun. The little one woke up just in time.
She was all giggles and smiles, then . . . . .
Oh no.
Mmmmmmiiiiiiiiiillllllllllllllllllkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!
We finished the trail, said “hi” to our old pal Charlie, and stopped by the river to feed the little one, then set off for home. The sky was too clear and the air too warm to stay inside, so we walked up to our favorite rock to sit and enjoy the sunset and leftover trail mix.
